Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Mon, April 12, 2004 - 12:00 AMHapas are also being used in more mainstream media as models, spokepersons, and newscasters. Mixed race people are in high demand for exotic looks and hapas are the way to go. -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Tue, April 13, 2004 - 12:39 PMInterested to hear if anyone else can compile a list of examples. I'm sure that I could come up with a list if I thought about it for any length of time, but at the moment the only ones I have are:
Anne Curry (NBC Today Show)
Dean Cain (Ripley's Believe It or Not, among others)
Keanu Reaves
ummmm...why am I blanking? -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 12:45 AMI dunno.
I agree that mixing can produce some stunning specimens (my friend's little brother comes to mind). But when the mix goes wrong, it REALLY goes wrong. -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 1:26 AMNot sure what you mean there...
wrong...? -
-
Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 11:29 AMI'm just saying that although a lot of mixed people are very good looking, it is also possible to inherit the worst features of each parent, and turn out fugly. We hapa are not immune to the fuglies. Just my observations. -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Fri, April 15, 2005 - 4:07 PMi've nevvvvver seen an ugly hapa, not ever!!!!

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Wed, August 4, 2004 - 11:36 AMPS - I guess the reason I don;t like hearing that mixed people are "more beautiful"is that it sounds like a postive sterotype, and I try to see people as individuals.
Like when people say all asians are good at math or something. It *sounds* like a compliment but is it true? Some asians are good with numbers, but then there are my asian friends, some of whom can't be trusted to divide the check at restaurant, lol! -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Thu, August 5, 2004 - 2:02 AMIs that some sort of crack at your Chinese friends being cheap? :)
And I agree, generalizations like that are usually a bad thing. Lord knows I'm proof that you can be hapa and butt ugly. -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Thu, August 5, 2004 - 9:41 AMhey man, i think you are beautiful. and not just cause you are hapa. ;) -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Fri, November 12, 2004 - 10:03 PMHapas can be rather stunning, but there are some fine specimens from those with only one ethnic ancestory; Venezuelan and Swedish swimsuit models come to mind. -

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Thu, November 18, 2004 - 2:09 AMGotta love 'em all... simple as that... we can all have our preferences... and maybe thats what Tsyzer was talking 'bout.... but, at the same time... DAMN! do I see your point... (guess we know my preference... lol...)

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Tue, January 18, 2005 - 9:48 AMRegarding the hot Venezuelan models: Actually Venezuelans as well as most South & Central American people are of mixed ancestry too. Usually Spanish or in Brazil's case Portuguese or other Euro ancestry and the indigenous people that were there before the Euro settlers. And some S/C Americans have African blood mixed in too.

positive stereotypes
Thu, November 25, 2004 - 1:17 PMStereotypes in general are hard to fight. I'm not a happa, but I am black.
After a while you get tired of hearing the whole big schlong thing. I mean if some cute girl starts hitting on me and has that in the back of her mind, do I really have a right to complain about a stereotype that benfits me? Even positive stereotypes are not always positive. They can be flipped and easily become negative. Even if the stereotype is true on average it means that there are thousands and thousands of people for whom it is not true.
One way the hot stereotype plays itself out is with people wanting to date other races because the children will be good looking.
You know what? I'm just as guilty of falling for this and flirting with exotic women as the size queens who flirt with me.
But is either thing so wrong? We all have unreasonable things we desire. -

Re: positive stereotypes
Fri, April 8, 2005 - 2:06 AMwhile i and my brothers are quite fine specimins of hapa hotties, i have some reeeeaaaaalllly ugly cousins. ssshhhhh. don't tell anyone.
but i also know first hand (hehe) that black dudes don't all have large - what did you say? schlongs.
when i was 12 i decided that
1. i didn't want to get married to after i was 30 (should have listened to myself - im now happily divorced.)
2. if i had a baby at all i didn't want to do it til i was 30
3. i wanted to have a baby by a half black half latino dude so i wouldhave the ultilmate mixed baby cause i thought being mixed was soooo cool. like the CHILD of beneton instead of the CHILDREN of beneton (those ads always creeped me out... eewww)
and i get really pissed at the full bloods who criticize me for "dating out of my race" because shit. its awfully hard not to do. and well, I AAAAAMMMMM an interracial relationship. how the hell am i not gonna have an interracial relationship.
but then i got with this puerto rican dude who's black and german and maybe taino indian and i felt a comfort i had never felt before. and by the way, he's not the stunning model like beauty many mixed folks are. but im kinda sold, as far as racial comfort goes, on being with mixed folks if i can help it... can't always help it. -

Re: positive stereotypes
Wed, July 27, 2005 - 7:02 PMYES!!! (on two points)
one. i also find those beneton ads totally creepy. they always pissed me off.
and, two. you phrased it perfectly. "I AM an interracial relationship!" people frequently ask me my opinion on interracial dating, and i really don't know what to tell them because it's the only dating i've ever known. i've never dated someone the same as me. would it count as interracial dating if a japanese-irish girl dated a japanese-irish boy? hmm. oh who cares.

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Sat, July 30, 2005 - 12:56 PMI don't know if she was mentioned here yet, but you know who my favorite hapa is on TV? Kristen Kreuk from Smallville. She is stunning and makes this homo hapa think twice...(sometimes)

Re: Hapas are HOT!!
Fri, March 9, 2007 - 5:07 PMTwo words: Brandon Lee *slurp*
<Hapas are HOT>
Hmmm, I suppose many are. But to suggest that Hapas have somehow cornered the market on beauty is a subjective, rather lookist generalization that makes me well...squirm. And don't forget the whole "exotic" appeal that we mixed folks are supposed to exude. Frankly, I'd rather be treated as a human being and not a specimen to be placed in a glass cage.
And remember, kiddies, true beauty comes from within ;)
